Statement of Faith

We welcome all our brothers and sisters in Christ and extend the hand of fellowship to all believers. Nevertheless, we believe that it is the responsibility of church leadership, to set forth a doctrinal response to the testimony of God. We have attempted to do that in the following statements:

We believe in one triune God, existing eternally as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and that He is infinitely perfect, the creator and governor of all things, who is the single true object of all worship. (1 John 5:7, Exodus 3:14)

We believe that the scriptures, namely the old and new testaments, were written by men under the influence and inspiration of God, and that these only constitute the divine rule of Christian faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21)

We believe that in the beginning God created all things through His Son, He made man in His own image and likeness, with free will, moral character and a spiritual nature. (John 1:3, Colossians 1:16, Genesis 1:26)

We believe that man fell into sin when Adam was disobedient to the command of God, and that subsequently all men are unrighteous before God, and as such justly exposed to the wrath of God. (Romans 5:12)

We believe that due to the fall, all men are born with a propensity to sin and that "None does good, no not one,"their "hearts being continually evil," and as such they are rightly condemned to hell. (Romans 3:11-12)

We believe that God has provided a mediator between Himself and man, the Man Christ Jesus, that He died to redeem us and rose that we might be justified. (1Timothy 2:5, Romans 8:30)

We believe that the atonement of the cross is not limited, but rather that it is sufficient for all men; sufficient, yet efficacious only to those who repent and believe. Therefore salvation is by grace through faith, and this is the free gift of God. (John 3:16, 1 Timothy 2:4, John 1:12, Ephesians 2:8)

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the "Spirit of truth" and that He convicts the world of sin, affects the new birth, guides us through the scriptures and enables perseverance in faith and holiness, and that He points solely to Christ. (John 16:8,Titus 3:5, John 14:26.)

We believe that those who repent should be baptized with water as a symbol of their moving from death to life, of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, of cleansing of sin and a commitment to Christ. (Romans 6:3-6, Matt 28:19, Mark 16:16)

We believe that a continuance in the state of salvation depends upon continued obedience in faith to Christ, "he who endures to the end shall be saved." (Hebrews 6:4-8, Hebrews 10:26-31)

We believe that Christians are not to be conformed to the world but are to be transformed by the renewing of their mind, to become like Christ in every way in all their doings, all their life. (Romans 12:2, James 4:4)

We believe that it is the privilege of all Christians to be wholly sanctified in spirit, soul and body, and that they may be preserved blameless until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1Thessalonians 5:23)

We believe in the immortality of the soul, in the resurrection of the body, in the general judgement at the end of the world, in the eternal happiness of the righteous and the eternal punishment of the wicked. (Acts 24:15, Romans 2:6-8)

We believe, each of us, that it is the duty of every born again believer to take this message, this good news, to their neighbours, friends, work colleagues and family and to be "salt" and "light" in the world. This we believe is the core of loving "your neighbour as yourself." (Matthew 5:13-16)
